Short
  • Who is it? The husband or partner, minor children, adult children without family and parents with maintenance are not mentioned in article 62.4 [1].
  • The family applies with yours or later. If the applications are filed simultaneously, the decisions are made simultaneously. [1].
  • Income rises on a scale of 3,917 per month, with 2 4,274 per month, with 3 4,630 per month gross, at 01.10.2026 [2][3].
  • Each family member pays a duty of 73.26 I and meets the general requirements of article 62.3: funds, insurance, no criminal record [1][2].
  • Family members under DNV may work in Spain without restrictions, unlike the student ’s family [2]If the main applicant does not have an alta in Seguridad Social, the permit is terminated for the whole family. [2].

Who's in the DNV family

Article 62.4 Ley 14/2013 identifies four groups: spouse or partner, minor children, adult children who depend on you financially and have not yet established their family, and parents on maintenance [1]For each person, the general requirements of article 62.3 are verified: legal location, criminal record certificates, insurance, funds, duty [1]. Brothers, sisters and grandparents are not included in the list, they will have to look for a separate basis. Who is considered “dependent”, which papers are needed by adult children and parents, is discussed in the article DNV family: spouse, children over 18 and parents.

How much income a family needs

The threshold is tied to SMI and the figures are taken up before taxes and contributions. [2][3]The evidence requires three months ’ invoices or invoices and a bank certificate in the claimant ’s name, and the missing portion is covered by savings for the duration of the authorization. [3].

The data are 01.10.2026; after the new SMI, the amounts change. Whether the family member ’s income is considered to be within the general threshold, UGE is not specified in public documents, so rely on the applicant ’s income. 3-person family income.

Three delivery scenarios

The law allows for the submission jointly or consistently [1]In practice, one of the three options is chosen.

  • All together. You file family requests at the same time as the main one. Decisions are made simultaneously, and you get a general schedule. It's the same if the documents are ready for everyone.
  • First the complainant, then the family. You serve and pass the steps, then the family joins, each family member still gives a full package and pays the fee, so there's no savings on the paperwork.
  • The complainant is already in Spain, a family abroad. The applicant is applying to UGE from Spain for legal representation. [1][2]family members apply for a permit and, if necessary, a visa [1]:: A visa for residents abroad at the consulate of their place of residence.

For each scenario, schedule the dates: when you collect the documents, when you deliver and when the family arrives. Digital Nomad in Spain.

What to Prepare for Each Family Member

Indicative list of UGE for family: form MI-F, full passport, confirmation of funds, health insurance in Spain (if a person does not have access to public medicine through the work of the applicant) and a related document: marriage, birth or joint life certificate, original or copy with apostille and translation [4][5]. Adult children need to show financial dependence and the absence of their family, parents confirm the content [4]The Ministry has published the list long ago, so check it against the current UGE requirements on the date of submission.

The child is travelling with one parent: collect custody documents in advance and the consent of the second parent. For DNV, we did not find a special rule in Ley 14/2013, but this confirmation will be useful in the questions. The differences in surnames and transliterations are better explained before delivery. Photographs and correspondence are not replaced by official acts. Documents in another language are translated by a jury, foreign official with apostille or legalization. [3].

Steps and time frames

  1. Set the script and the composition. Identify who's coming, what's the connection, what's the nationality, the country of residence, and the date you want.
  2. Make lists of people. Everyone has their own documents, passports don't fit into one public file.
  3. Pay the fees. 73.26 I'm for everyone, including family members, online with the NRC number. [2].
  4. Make an application. On Ley 14/2013, applications and documents are electronically submitted via the Ministry ’s website, and an electronic certificate is needed [5]I'm a foreign visa applicant for the consulate. [1][2].
  5. Wait for the decision. UGE decides in 20 days, when silence is not allowed [1].
  6. Put TIE on. If the permit is valid for more than six months, each person requests a card separately [1].

Work, insurance, and what can break the family plan

UGE explains that family members can work in Spain without restrictions, for hire and independently [2]This distinguishes DNV from the family of a higher education student under article 56 of the regulations on work, insurance is tested for everyone, and the conditions of policy and exceptions are referred to in article 16. DNV insurance.

The main risk is with the main applicant, who is obliged to maintain the conditions of authorization and report changes to UGE within 30 days. [1]If the self-employed applicant does not get on the alta in RETA, the permit is terminated and both he and dependent family members lose the right to live and work [2]If the main applicant loses the basis for the authorization, the effect on the family depends on the case: the rule on the duration of family permits and the manner in which they are extended in open sources is not found.

The difference between the DNV and the student family and the reunification

The family of a student under article 56 of the regulations may not work (para. 6) and is attached to the study estancia of the main student: The student ’s family in Spain. The reunion with the resident is under other articles with their own thresholds and is submitted by the resident himself: Family reunification in SpainThe regimes are not mixed: each member of the family is given a standard that is appropriate for his or her case.

Typical Errors

  • They only count the threshold on the applicant. 75 per cent and 25 per cent of SMI per family remain behind the brackets [2][3].
  • They think you can bring a family member in later without a complete set. Each has a set under article 62.3. [1].
  • The fee is paid only for the applicant. It's being applied for every first bid. [2].
  • They're included in the application of a brother, sister, or grandmother. Article 62.4 does not contain them [1].
  • They only take a document for an adult child about a relationship. We need proof of addiction. [4].
  • They're making a budget to get the family to work right away. There is a right, but real work depends on the market and the documents.

When Individual Review Is Needed

A divorce is necessary if a partner is unmarried, if an adult child or parent, if a child is travelling with one parent, if the applicant and the family are in different countries or if you choose between DNV and another family basis.
